Class story:
Class overview:
Welcome to Tortoises class, a class based in The Burrow, taught by Fran Shaw (teacher), Tina Carr (teaching assistant), Georgina Gadsby (teaching assistant) and Emma McVicar (teaching assistant). The pupils in Tortoises class are primarily following the developing and deepening pathways of our curriculum. All learning tasks are delivered in a sensory and engaging way using a total communication approach.
As a class we enjoy outdoor learning, physical education, cooking, science, opportunities to experience different cultures, building friendships and a love for reading. Pupils routinely access a range of therapies and interventions including TACPAC, Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction and Sensory circuits.
Learning together:
Outdoor learning:
School will have a continued focus on ‘Outside Learning in all Weathers’ this year, with this in mind if possible please ensure that on each day your child has a suitable coat for the weather conditions.
We will have PE on a Thursday morning. This half term we will be working on ball skills- throwing, catching and striking. Please send a PE kit into school. We will keep this for the half term to ensure children have it each week To help the children engage in learning we have introduced sensory circuits in the morning and meditation in the afternoon. Children will also be engaging in wake-up shake up sessions within class.
General notices:
We ask for a contribution of £6 per half term which contributes to regular class cooking sessions and daily snack. We are aiming to enrich the curriculum through a variety of trips and will give you notice of these in advance. As the weather begins to change please make sure you send your child in appropriate clothing.
