Class Story
Class Overview
Welcome to Thumbelina, a class based in Nicol's phase taught by Anna Bayliss (Class Teacher), Kerry Brown, Caitlan Purcell & Louanna Olivier (Teaching Assistants). We are a total communication classroom and we work on and use different ways to communicate throughout each day (e.g. Makaton, sealed pots symbols and gestures). Following primarily our EYFS 2D curriculum through continuous provision, we will engage in sensory based learning such as mark making in foam, water play, edible experiences and sensory stories with their related sensory exploration experiences. We love to get messy! We will follow our structured daily routines and timetable for teaching and learning with transitions supported by objects of reference, music cues and symbols/ pictures specific to the children's needs. We also routinely access interventions such as TAC PAC which supports sensory communication as well as attention autism and intensive interaction. We enjoy learning in the classroom and making use of our sensory and outdoor spaces.
